Project Name: Specialty Chemicals Design/Build Blast Resistant Control Building
Client Benefits: The new control building replaced the existing control building and provided the operators a safe haven to work and monitor operations.
The new building was replacing an existing old control building near the new building location. The new control building was located in the middle of the unit and BGS had to streamline the construction effort to avoid affecting daily plant operations.

The KMCO 5 psi Blast Resistant Control Building Project involved designing and building a control building (2400 sf) in the middle of the plant. The scope included the control building with the foundation consisting of drilled piers, grade beams, and slab. The building was constructed with concrete tilt wall panels and a concrete roof (with membrane cover). There was a control room, offices, a mechanical/electrical room, a UPS room, a kitchen (with appliances), a conference room, and restroom facilities. A backup generator, HVAC system, fire alarm, fire suppression, gas detection and controls were included. The project was construction managed by Burrow Global and most construction crafts were subcontracted. The client was very satisfied with the control building and the work performed.
