This project was driven by a need to update the HSE Critical P-1 Alarms and migrate the legacy automation tank monitoring system to a new PLC system.

Scope Description:
Burrow Global provided detailed engineering design, construction support and commissioning assistance to the client. This project addressed the replacement of a legacy tank monitoring system in a specific area of the client plant with a new PLC system.

The project also separated the HSE Critical Priority 1 Alarms associated with tank monitoring throughout the plant by routing the alarms through a new PLC system that uses Profibus as the communication protocol. Specifications and drawings were developed to purchase and install eighteen (18) new Siemens S7-315 / S7-417HF PLC systems and six (6) HMI screens. New infrastructure was designed and installed which included a fiber optic backbone. An OPC server using Profibus networks was installed and existing PLC's were upgraded or replaced. New L&J tank transmitters were purchased or upgraded to Profibus DP compatible transmitters. Burrow Global developed and executed FAT and SAT procedures for 527 I/O’s.

Project utilized EPCM Man-hours: 22,584 and was executed without incident.
